Associate of Business Administration (ABA)

Overview

The Associate of Business Administration (ABA) is a two-year degree program that provides a foundation in business principles and practices, often serving as a stepping stone to a bachelor’s degree or entry into various business roles. These degrees cover core areas like accounting, management, marketing, and economics, and can be tailored to specific industry interests.

Admissions

OCU requires, minimally, evidence of an earned high school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) tests, ability-to-benefit exam (ATB), or the successful completion of a degree program. OCU also requires that the applicant complete general education requirements prior to applying to OCU.

Transfer Credit

OCU will award a maximum of 80% undergraduate semester hours earned at previous institutions as transfer credit. Transfer credits must be from recognized institutions of higher education.

General Ed. Component | General Education refers to the required set of courses that form the foundational base of the ABA degree, providing students with broad knowledge across various disciplines before specializing in their major field of study. OCU requires that the applicant complete a minimum of 3 semester hours of general education requirements from each area prior to graduating from OCU.15

Scientific Inquiry and Quantitative Reasoning: Physical Science, Life Science, Mathematics, Quantitative Reasoning, etc.
Social Sciences: Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History, etc.
Arts and Humanities: Art, Dance, Music, Cinema, Theater, Literature, Philosophy, Liberal Arts, Humanities, Foreign Language, etc.
Core Component | The Core Component consists of courses in degree programs that are specifically required for a particular program of study. They are the foundation courses to an academic program. The Core Component courses are clearly listed as to which to complete.30
