Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Overview

IAU’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a graduate degree that prepares individuals to plan, organize, direct, and control the functions and processes of a firm or organization. The MBA includes instruction in management theory, human resources management and behavior, accounting and other quantitative methods, purchasing and logistics, organization and production, marketing, and business decision-making (CIP Code: 52.0201). 

This degree program offers concentrations that are designated as STEM by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). F-1 students may be eligible for OPT STEM Extension benefits.

 

Admissions

OCU requires an earned bachelor degree or the equivalent from a combination of educational and professional experiences.  Education must be completed from recognized institutions of higher education.

Transfer Credit

OCU will award a maximum of 75% of graduate semester units earned at another institution as transfer credit. Transfer credits must be from recognized institutions of higher education.

Elective or Concentration

Students may opt to take general electives to explore different areas of interest or students may choose a concentration for their degree. A concentration adds additional classes to the core curriculum which are tailored to the field of business the student has worked in already or intends to work in after completing their studies.

The Elective Component requirement can be fulfilled by receiving credit for any graduate courses (500+) that are not a requirement.

Business Analytics (BAn) Concentration Component  | 9 Sem.Hrs.

This concentration prepares individuals to apply data science to solve business challenges. Includes instruction in machine learning, optimization methods, computer algorithms, probability and stochastic models, information economics, logistics, strategy, consumer behavior, marketing, and visual analytics. Hospitality, Travel, & Tourism (HTT) Concentration Component | 9 Sem.Hrs.

This concentration prepares individuals to serve as general managers and directors of hospitality operations on a system-wide basis, including both travel arrangements and promotion and the provision of traveler facilities. Includes instruction in principles of operations in the travel and tourism, hotel and lodging facilities, food services, and recreation facilities industries; hospitality marketing strategies; hospitality planning; management and coordination of franchise and unit operations; business management; accounting and financial management; hospitality transportation and logistics; and hospitality industry policies and regulations.
